The Valiant & Bold standard

How wework.

Six rules that run every job, taken straight from the agreements every Valiant & Bold trade signs.

Why it is written down

A promise you cannot point to is a hope. So we put every promise on paper, in the work order you sign and in the agreement every trade on your site signs.

Six rules

The standard,
in full.

01

A written work order

Every job starts with a work order: what is included, what is not, the price, and the dates. It is the agreement. Nobody starts before it is signed.

No work order, no start.

02

Changes in writing

An extra is a signed change order with a price, not a conversation on the driveway. If safety forces an immediate change, it is confirmed in writing the same day or the next business day.

Nothing is added to a bill in conversation.

03

Every trade cleared

Every subcontractor works under a written agreement and gives us a WorkSafeBC clearance letter before starting and again before final payment, and carries the insurance the agreement requires.

No clearance letter, no site access.

04

Materials counted

Deliveries are counted against a material register at the start. Shortages and damage are written down. More material is only bought on a written approval from Eduardo.

You pay for what the job used.

05

A sober, safe site

No alcohol, cannabis or other intoxicants on the site, on paid time or behind the wheel. Anyone can refuse unsafe work and say why. Hazards and near misses are reported.

Zero impairment. No exceptions.

06

Closed out properly

At the end you get a written deficiency list with a deadline for every item. Where the Builders Lien Act applies, the 10% holdback is handled by the rules. The final account is settled within 15 business days.

Finished means finished on paper.

The work order

One page.
The whole agreement.

The work order is the agreement for your job. It is written after we walk the site with you, and nobody starts until it is signed. When something changes, a change order is written, priced and signed before the extra work is done.

  • Nothing is added to a bill in conversation
  • If safety forces an immediate change, it is in writing the same or next business day
  • Permitted work waits for the permit
